Den Saakaldte was established back in May of 2006, under the candlelight and the light of the 5th fullmoon.

The project started as a "one man band" project, by Sykelig. It's only purpose? ...To be the way for expressing the paranoia, depression and alkohol influenced thoughts of the individual.

Den Saakaldte as a meaning, stands for every person that is not or doesn't feel a part of the "normal" society. Sykelig recorded the first two songs in Hellas and after that relocated once and for good to Norway.

There, after experiencing weird situations and after having interesting new points of view in life, Sykelig joined forces with Jormungand-keys (DHG), Seidemann-bass (1349, Pantheon I) and Niklas Kvarforth (Shining). The drums back then were performed by the talented musician, S.Winter (ex-Aeternus, ex-Gehenna).

Den Saakaldte re-recorded in Oslo & Stavanger, in actual basements, and mixed this material that was entitled "Øl, Mørke og Depresjon" that got released as a professional limited edition format by the Italian label, Eerie Art Records. One month after the release, the band performed live for the first time, headlining the Inferno Festival 2008 in Norway, delivering a mystical, bizzare and sick setlist.

The band received positive feedback from the fans and the press and the first contacts with Avantgarde Music started. In the summer of 2008, Jarle aka Uruz takes the place behind the drumkit and Den Saakaldte signs with Avantgarde Music.

The title for the debut album gets revealed in the words of "All Hail Pessimism". A title that is rather self-sarcastic, than an actual statement (to whomever it may concern...). In Autumn of 2008, the split EP Shining/Den Saakaldte gets released by Temple Of Darkness Records.

A limited to 1000 copies release,in gatefold and picture disc, with live material from both bands. With the beginning of the year 2009, Den Saakaldte gets confirmed for headlining the Inferno Festival kick off this time, and for performing at the Party San Open Air Festival in Germany. In February the album "All Hail Pessimism" gets released by Avantgarde Music and Den Saakaldte receives great feedback for their live performance at the Inferno Festival kick off. Autumn of 2009 and the "Øl, Mørke og Depresjon" is being re-released in the form of a digipack CD limited to 1000 copies and gatefold double LP limited to 500 copies by Aesthetic Death Records.

A high quality release from every aspect. Both CD & LP formats are now sold out.

In spring of 2010, shows in Finland, Germany and The Netherlands are taking place with Tjalve (ex-1349) joining as a session guitarist. For these live appearances, Kobro (Carpathian Forest) is taking over the drums.

Right after that the band decides to take a long break from everything. 4 years since then passed and Den Saakaldte is now again in the productive road.

Tjalve is now a permanent member. The band signs with Agonia Records for x2 albums.

Behind the drums Tybalt (Fortid) has now taken position as a full time member. Jormungand is is not a member of the band anymore and Den Saakaldte approaches an "old times" sound they were looking and were in need for. The band within 2015 makes it up for these 4 years of absence.

"Øl, Mørke og Depresjon" and "All Hail Pessimism" are released on cassete by Bylec Tum Productions and Infernum Profundis Records. In April Den Saakaldte release the split EP Horna/Den Saakaldte.

A prelude of what is to come with the full album. First album with Agonia records, "Kapittel II: Faen I Helvete" hits the market on the 27th mof May and receives great reviews from the worldwide press.

The release is being followed by the June Split EP release of Den Saakaldte/Varathron. A quality release by Floga Records that came to mark the 15 years of friendship between Sykelig and Stefan Necroabyssious. The band is performing a sold out gig in Oslo and takes part in Fall of Summer Festival in France and Norwegian Hellcamp in Germany. In October, the band announces a new EP release Den Saakaldte/Principality of Hell that is to be released in January.

The band gets confirmed for Blastfest Festival in Bergen, Graspop Metal Meeting in Belgium, Phantoms of Pilsen in CZ Republic and more shows so as to promote "Kapittel II: Faen I Helvete"..
