John Petrucci is the guitarist and a founding member of Dream Theater, the legendary progressive rock titans whose nucleus he formed in 1985.

John has seen the 2X Grammy-nominated band through many notable accomplishments, including multiple domestic as well as international top-ten releases, and numerous gold and platinum-certified DVDs. Dream Theater's 1992 landmark release Images and Words featuring the rock radio hit Pull Me Under was met with universal acclaim among fans and critics alike and was the band's first gold-certified album.

2009’s Black Clouds & Silver Linings entered at #6 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart and more recently, A Dramatic Turn of Events debuted at #8 in 2011. To date, Dream Theater has sold in excess of 12 million records worldwide.

As the band's producer and principal songwriter/lyricist, John’s side projects include the instrumental prog-rock super group Liquid Tension Experiment with bassist Tony Levin (King Crimson, Peter Gabriel). John is a seven-time G3 veteran, joining Joe Satriani as well as fellow guitarists Steve Vai, Eric Johnson, Paul Gilbert, Steve Morse and Steve Lukather on tours throughout North and South America, Japan and Australia.

The double CD and DVD, G3 Live in Tokyo featuring John, Steve Vai and Joe was recorded while on tour in Japan, and was released in 2005. John's awards include the 2007 Guitarist of the Year as named by the readers of Total Guitar magazine, and Best Metal Guitarist in the 2010 and 2011 Reader's/Player's Choice Awards polls in Guitar Player magazine. In 2011, John was named one of the 20 greatest-ever metal guitarists in Total Guitar's poll as well as Best Guitarist in Classic Rock Presents Prog Magazine's 2011 reader's poll. First released in 1995, John's instructional video Rock Discipline continues to be held in high regard by guitar players around the world as both an influential and comprehensive guide to modern-day guitar techniques.

John's book, entitled Guitar World Presents John Petrucci's Wild Stringdom, is a compilation of columns he wrote for the magazine. His first solo CD, Suspended Animation, was released to critical acclaim in 2005.

Throughout his career, John has spearheaded the research and development of numerous signature guitars and guitar related gear with some of the most successful and respected musical instrument manufactures in the world.
